05:44 pm - Love your animals!
I spent a week volunteering at the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, a place for animals to live out their lives happily and peacefully after being rescued from factory farms or shut down slaughter houses. I met some really friendly animals who were thankful for a happy home and lots of attention.

and this is why its hard to draw baby goats!

I fell in love with the baby goats and actually spent more time with them than any other animals, but I didn't get any drawing done because all they want to do is play and snuggle and eat my sketchbook!

I am available for freelance and commissioned illustrations and design work. In addition to many individual commissioned pieces, I have also worked on many projects for the Brookfield Craft Center in CT, including illustrations, design and text layout of posters and announcements.

I am also available for art education and have experience with children as well as adults.
I have previously taught art at Creative Kids preschool in New Milford, CT, I taught an adult silk screening class out of my home studio and also did a workshop at the Brookfield Craft Center, I have worked with Art Lab of Saugerties, NY teaching a preschool class, a home schooled group, and substitute taught a kindergarten art class.

04:10 pm - sketchbook pages from Rome. feb 2008
Last Feb I went to Rome with my sister and my mom. here is a page from the travel sketchbook. (click it!)

Also on this trip, my sister and I discovered a stray slice of salami that kept making appearances in various places throughout our apartment. I first found it in my bed! We came to the conclusion that our cleaning lady must just have scraps of Italian meat caught in the folds of her clothes and they fall out from time to time. This became known as "The Motherhood of the Traveling Salami".

more pages from Ireland...

many tasty meals were cooked in this kitchen in West Cork. I even learned how to make tortillas on this stove.

this is a patio in a nice little hostel outside of Dublin where I liked to sit and have breakfast and draw.

some things from my sketchbook from Ireland...

at one of the places I stayed in Ireland, I met a guy who was building a mobile home for himself and his wife and newborn baby. he had incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail in this crazy home he was making. and it really was being made in an old horse trailer. I wish I could have seen it when it was finished.

after a few months of organic vegetable gardening in Ireland it was time to lighten my load for the remainder of my travels. so I ditched my boots and a bunch of clothes.
